Transfer: Torreira Future In Arsenal Uncertain

Arsenal star Lucas Torreira wants to leave for Italy after “differences” with Mikel Arteta put him in “bad mood”, says his agent.

As a result, Arsenal have been linked with a number of midfielders, including Orkun Kokcu, with Rabiot their latest target. As for Manchester United, their interest in the player is not new.

In addition, Lucas Torreira’s future at the Emirates is uncertain, thereby accentuating the need to sign a midfielder.

AC Milan are thought to be lining up a summer swoop for the Uruguayan midfielder after they failed in their bid to bring him back to Italy last summer.

The combative centre-mid has undergone a slight resurgence under Arteta, already playing nine times in 2020 before the season was called to a halt.

But he has made no secret of his desire to return to Italy with his family – who are thought to have found it difficult to settle in the English capital.

The 24-year-old’s agent Pablo Bentancur, told Tuttomercato: “Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered. And the injury arrived, fortunately less serious than expected.

“Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man,

“I will have to speak to Arsenal. The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

AC Milan are said to be lying in wait to land their man at the second attempt this summer.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim Torreia’s agent has been “sending positive signals” to Milan chiefs.

Torreira suffered a fractured foot in March, but has now recovered ahead of the top-flight’s potential restart.

The Gunners may look to cash in on the former Sampdoria ace to raise some funds for their summer targets.

Their already limited budget was further hit following the pandemic meaning the club may have to sacrifice at least one of four players including Alexandre Lacazette – to be in with a chance of doing business in the next transfer window.
