Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi has expressed his desire to open a Vocational Institute and School of Technology in Nnewi.

He revealed that the Diocese may convert the proposed Pentecost University, Nnewi/Ozubulu, which is nearly in completion to a Vocational Institute and School of Technology.

He said his idea is to have a standard institution that is certified where people can learn skills like, carpentry, fashion designing, video editing, graphics designing, cinematography, baking and many other skills.

He explained that the vocational school which will be equipped with every facility needed will enable young people to be adequately trained in their area of choice and specialization.

Speaking further, he said that he plans to open the School of Technology to enable young people to be absorbed in the ICT sector. He said that the Institute will train people who are willing to develop a skill in web designing, hard and software engineering, multimedia in telecommunications and many other tech disciplines.

He emphasised that the Vocational and Technology Institute which will be of world-class standard, will raise an army of young people who will provide jobs instead of looking for non-existent white-collar jobs.

He explained that why our society has remained backward is because we have failed to create a society like in the Bible, he said that in Israel as a nation, everybody at the age of twelve (12) begins to learn a skill.

He said, “At the age of twelve (12), Jesus was learning carpentry, Paul was a tentmaker, Peter was a fisherman, everyman in Israel has a skill, that is the kind of society I want to build in Nnewi Diocese.
