Kanye West turned 43 on Monday. And his mother-in-law Kris Jenner was one of the first people to share a special message for the rapper, calling him a ‘special’ and ‘important’ part of the family.

Kris, 64, shared an album of photos of memories she shares with Kanye as well as some of him with wife Kim Kardashian, 39, and wrote: ‘Happy Birthday @kanyewest!!

Here are five facts you need to know about the veteran American rapper.

  • Kanye has influenced other artists Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert and Casey Veggies have acknowledged being influenced directly by West. He has been cited as a direct influence by artists and musical groups outside of hip-hop including Lorde, Halsey and Fall Out Boy
