The Palace Secretary of Nnewichi Community, Prince Ezenwa Nwachukwu, has revealed that any Nnewichi Indigene is eligible to contest the position of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi President-General, despite being zoned to Abubor Nnewichi.

His statement is coming on the heels of the controversy rocking Nnewichi Community over the zoning arrangement of the community.

Speaking to Anaedoonline.com, Prince Ezenwa Nwachukwu said that Nnewichi as a community agreed that Abubor Nnewichi should produce the next Nzuko-Ora Nnewi President-General after the expiration of Umudim Nnewi slot currently being held by Chief Sir. Ugochukwu Udemezue.

He, however, noted that despite the rotation arrangement, every Nnewichi indigene who is qualified has the constitutional right to contest the position.

Describing the zoning as an internal affair of Nnewichi, he said that the zoning arrangement in Nnewichi has nothing to do with the larger Nnewi community.

Asked if there is a deterrent for any Nnewichi indigene who is not from Abubor that contest for Nzuko-Ora Nnewi President-General position, he said that such an individual does not want the peace and tranquillity of Nnewichi Community.

On that of Anambra State House of Assembly, Prince Ezenwa Nwachukwu revealed that Nnewichi as a community never agreed to zone the seat to any quarter, which was later won by Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor from Odida Community.
