By Wisdom Nwedene, Umuahia

There were heavy gunshots on Wednesday in Aba, Abia State after a policeman attached to Crunchies, a fast food restaurant opened fire on members of Abia State Taskforce Board of Internal Revenue.

It was gathered that a member of the taskforce identified as Ifeanyi Kalu was killed instantly while another person was seriously injured making others to scamper for safety.

Speaking with our correspondent, an eyewitness said trouble started when a driver of the fast food restaurant (Crunchies) called policemen via his phone that their bus has been driven away by the taskforce.

“When the Policemen came with AK-47, they started shooting sporadically and killed one of the members of the taskforce.”

“And another person was seriously injured. Both of them have been taken to the hospital. Many people are running for safety and the Crunchies office has been shut down”.

“One of the Policemen said he is happy that he killed someone. There is pandemonium here now.”

Efforts to speak with the Commissioner of Police in Abia State to comment on the issue proved abortive as at the time of filing this report as messages sent to his known phone number were not replied.

In other report, fresh facts have emerged why there was shooting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday evening. It was reliably gathered that attempt by the Presidential Assistant, Sabiu Tunde Yusuf to find his way out of the Aso Rock premises led to shooting as he struggled to zoom off.

A Villa staff who claimed to have witnessed the incident told Vanguard that Police officers attached to the office of the First Lady, Dr. Aisha Buhari and Sabiu came out through the artillery gate to the park opposite former Officers Mess.

The source said, “At about 6pm, I saw about four Police officers following Sabiu, he was wearing blue caftan and barefooted. We were wondering whether anything had happened to the President as Sabiu is a personal aide to the President and very influential in the government.
