Abia Warriors Will Challenge For Honours Next Season – Inyama

Abia Warriors chairman Emeka Inyama says the Club will challenge for honours next season and will drive the club towards achieving that.

The experienced and seasoned football administrator who recently acquired the services of coach Imama Amapakabo stated that with the structure in place Abia Warriors are good to go next season.

“Imama is a big coach, he has pedigree, he has won the league with Rangers, he has cut his teeth with other clubs like El Kanemi Warriors, Rivers United, Sharks and Enyimba, he has also worked with the National team, coach of U-23, Assistant Coach to Gernot Rohr, so he has something to offer,” Inyama told Passion 94.5 FM.

“We need to drive the club this time around our ambition this time is to contest for honours and go for the big picture”.

Meanwhile, the former borad member of the the Nigeria Football Federation whose club have produced players to other clubs in Nigeria hinted that the club will continue to maintain it’s philosophy which is center around the youth.

“We believe in the youth, Football is about the youth and we want to also sell players while they are young,”Inyama added.

“We are very foundational we take them from Academy to team B, from Team B to the main team and that has paid off over the years because of the products we have produced many who have gone to play in other clubs in Nigeria.”

Abia Warriors confirmed Amapakabo’s appointment via their Twitter handle on Thursday.

“Abia Warriors and Coach Imama Amapakabo agree terms as new head coach ahead of the new season,” the club wrote.

It was at Rangers Amapakabo had his finest moment as a coach, after guiding the Enugu-based club to win the 2016 NPFL title, their first championship since 1982.

The 50-year-old was a reserved goalkeeper of the Golden Eaglets squad that won the maiden edition of the FIFA U-16 World Cup in China in 1985.
