Super Eagles To Play 2 friendly Games In October – Pinnick Reveals

Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has confirmed that the Super Eagles will have two international friendly games during the next FIFA windows in September and October.

The country’s senior national team has not been in action since their 4-2 victory over Lesotho in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year November.

Coach Gernot Rohr’s men were scheduled to take on Sierra Leone in March but coronavirus pandemic forced all football activities to be postponed.

The virus has also made the topmost championship on the continent to be moved from January 2021 to the following year.

However, the football apex body’s chief has however hinted that the three-time AFCON champions will face opposition from South America and Africa.

“The arrangement is 70% confirmed. “We hope to make use of the FIFA windows in both September and October,” Pinnick said during in an Instagram live chat on Thursday.

Nigeria played two friendly games towards the end of last year – they were held to a 2-2 draw by Ukraine and then forced five-time world champions Brazil to a 1-1 draw in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the NFF has charged the Super Eagles boss to win the next edition of AFCON after signing a new two-year extension earlier this year.

Anaedoonline.ng earlier reported that Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has insisted that the body will not beg Arsenal teenage sensation Bukayo Saka to play for the Super Eagles.

The 18-year-old versatile player who can play as a full back and a winger has been one of the discoveries of the 2019-20 season.

He broke into the Gunners senior team late in 2018 and the youngster has gone ahead to score four goals and 11 assists in 41 appearances across competitions.

The utility player is fast becoming one of Mikel Arteta’s choice players this campaign having featured in 25 Premier League matches so far.
