Ahead of Anambra 2021 Governorship election, political parties have been urged to select candidates with competence and capacity to invest in the infrastructure and human capital development in the state.

Speaking to Anaedonline.ng, Hon. Ejim Ucheagwu, who was an aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Nnewi North State Constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ejim Ucheagwu (PDP) said that the current government has failed woefully in developing the state.

According to him, Anambraians should be in the lookout for candidates who have proven track record, one who has demonstrated the ability to perform despite all odds.

Speaking about his principal, the Member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Chris Azubuogu, he claimed that the Lawmaker has been able to demystify the function of a legislator, having the record as the lawmaker that has the highest number of projects in the South-East.

Asked why some of the road projects attracted by his boss, dilapidate few months after construction, he argued that all the project attracted by the Lawmaker is of quality standard, noting that the opposition is fighting hard to demarket Hon. Chris.

He revealed that the opposition in the absence of anything to hold against Hon. Chris, is resorting to propaganda against the performing lawmaker.

On the rumour that the Nnewi-born Federal Public Complaints Commissioner, Hon. Samben Nwosu is plotting and positioning himself for the PDP Deputy Governorship position, he said that Hon. Nwosu is qualified to contest for any position of his choice, noting that he is not aware of the Federal Commissioner is playing a spoiler against Hon. Chris Azubuogu.

Responding to the religious politics being played between Anglican and Roman Catholic, he noted that he believes that competence should determine who becomes the next Governor of Anambra State not based on denomination.
