Ohanaeze Youth Leader, Okpalaezeukwu Endorses Traditional Rulers Suspension

The Youth leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth in Anambra state, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu lends his voice to the trending issue in the state as it regards the suspension of 12 traditional monarchs.

The youth leader in what he terms “Setting the Record Straight” bore his mind as to what transpired and his stand on the issue in a press release he issued to the general public. Which reads: 

The trending of this Development, especially on social media, since Yesterday,  Wednesday 12th August 2020 has generated numerous mixed feelings and utterances, which actually necessitated setting the records straight.

Ndi Anambra deserves to be well informed so that the innocent public will not become bias as a result of misinformation and/or baseless propaganda.

• The suspension of the twelve (12) Traditional Rulers was never the initiative of the State Government, but the Recommendations of the renowned Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council.

• The said Traditional Rulers, exceeded their jurisdictions, which is there respective communities, where they were elected by their subjects, and embarked on a meeting to discuss a State Agenda without the consultation and consideration of the Traditional Rulers Council,  nor the State Government.

• In tandem with the rule of law, Ndi Anambra deserves to know that it is only the Traditional Rulers Council has the authority to display such a sensitive capacity, but not without the consent of the State Government. 

• Nevertheless, it was also evident that they were induced with money (bribe) for such a shameless adventure, even without the consent of the Traditional Rulers Council of Anambra State.

• On these notes, the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, through her Leadership resolved and recommended Sanctions for the defaulters, while the Executive Arm of Anambra State Government, who posses the powers as provided in Section 10(b) of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Law 1981, found it worthy to approve the recommendations by the appropriate Authority- the Traditional Rulers Council of Anambra State. 

Having said this, I consciously wish to extol the courage and determination demonstrated by the Executive Governor of Anambra State on this matter.

This is because Sanctions without sentiments beget Sanity.

I also pray that the victims shall understand that they have actually abused the mandate of their subjects, who elected them to provide adequate leadership for their respective communities.

This understanding, I believe, shall enable them to control and tame their ego and conduct in such a way that shall not bring more shame to themselves and their respective communities. 

All sufferings are lessons to those who want to learn.
