Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu State chapter, have ended their long period of hostility, bringing an end to the factionalization of the party. Anaedoonline.ng reports that with this development, the rift between the supporters of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama and the Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye has been resolved.

 

At least four PhD holders in Ogun state applied for jobs under the newly launched public works programme meant for the recruitment of 774, 000 Nigerians. The federal government had in July kicked off the special public works programme which is coordinated by the ministry of labour and employment. The scheme was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fiscal stimulus measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the killers of Uwaila Vera Omozua, who was murdered while studying inside a Redeem Christian Church of God, RCCG in Edo State has confessed that he received 1 million Naira to kill his victim. Uwaila, a 100 level Microbiology student of UNIBEN, was gruesomely raped and murdered in May 2020. The suspect, Collins Uligbe, who hails from Agbor in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, made the confession while being paraded alongside other suspects by the Edo State Police Command.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Wednesday said it is committed to ensuring that “poor and vulnerable” Nigerians do not experience any undue increase in electricity tariff. According to a statement signed by the Commission’s Chairman, James Momoh, electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) can only increase prices only after customers have been consulted and metered. The DISCOs must also commit to increasing the number of hours of electricity supply per day.

Imo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday, issued guidelines to political parties wishing to take part in the forthcoming Imo North senatorial zone bye-election, scheduled to hold October 31, 2020. According to a press statement signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Francis Ezeonu, and made available to newsmen in Owerri, the Commission said that all interested political parties are expected to hold their primaries between August 24 and September 8, 2020.

Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Warewa section, there has been a heavy gridlock which is a result of a fire outbreak. Anaedoonline gathered that the standstill was caused by a car gutted by fire in the middle of the bridge around 1.30 pm. The car owner was said to be going to the Arepo area of Ogun State when she noticed the fire from the bonnet of her car.

 

United Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has urged youths of Imo State to join hands with the state government and other agencies to end all forms of violence against children, women and the vulnerable. The charge was given at the end of a two-day training organized by UNICEF for youths on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at Ehime Mbano Council hall yesterday. It was organized in corroboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the state’s Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Groups.
