Lionel Messi’s decision to stay at Barcelona has taken another dimension as there have been increasing pressure to force a vote of no confidence in president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Campaigners supported by one of the presidential candidates for next year’s election have already convinced 16,520 members of the club to trigger a vote of no confidence in Bartomeu.

And as of this report, 7,500 members have agreed and if the campaign reaches the two-thirds of 150,000 members of the club, Bartomeu will be sent packing as an emergency election will be held.

Bartomeu who has already served two terms will not run for another position in office and has called for elections three months ahead of schedule in March 2021.
