#EndSARS: It’s Shocking That FG Has Not Frozen Boko Haram Sponsor’s Accounts – Reno Omokri

A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has expressed shoked that he has never heard of the freezing of Boko Haram terrorists and their sponsors since the President, Major General Muhammadu Nuhari (retd) came to power.

This comes after a number of the promoters of the #EndSARS protests were reportedly restricted access to their bank accounts by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for their involvement in the movemnet.

Reports revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) obtained an exparte order to freeze the accounts of 20 individuals and an organisation linked to the #EndSARS campaign.

Reacting to the developmet on his official Twitter account, Omokri questioned why terrorists have never had their accounts frozen of their passports seized for their involvement in the deaths of many Nigerians for years.

“In 5 years General @MBuhari has been in power, I never read that bank accounts of Boko Haram or their sponsors were frozen, or that their passports were seized. Sadly, in the eyes of Buhari, #EndSARS protesters deserve frozen accounts and seized passports, but terrorists don’t!”

A number of legal experts and activists have condemned the freezing of the bank accounts, labelling it a gross violation of rights and an attack on Nigeria’s democracy.

Bolatito Racheal Oduala, Chima David Ibebunjoh, Mary Doose Kpengwa, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Bassey Victor Israel, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Ebere Idibie, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise and Mosopefoluwa Odeseye are among the individuals affected.

Also, Gatefield Nigeria Limited, owners of Gatefield Co, an advocacy group that supported the media coverage of the protest by providing funds to journalists, had its Access Bank account frozen, WuzupNigeria gathered.

Meanwhile, reports from Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) revealed that Boko Haram has killed more than 37,500 people since May 2011, leaving about 2.5 MILLION people in the Lake Chad Basin.
