Super Eagles Coach Hands Okoye, Akpoguma, Sanusi Home Debut

Gernot Rohr has handed a home debut to Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, and Kevin Akpoguma for Friday’s (today) 2021 Africa Cup of Nation qualifier against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that the trio made their full debut for the Eagles in last month’s friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria.

Okoye who is in goal for the encounter will be making his fourth appearance for the Eagles while the duo Akpoguma and Sanusi featuring at right-back and left-back respectively are making their third appearance for the team.

William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun are the two centre halfs. Also recalled to the starting line-up are Victor Osimhen, Joe Aribo, and Oghenekaro Etebo.

Osimhen leads the Eagles attack against the Leone Stars and he will be flanked by Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze.

The pair of Aribo and Etebo returns to the midfield alongside Alex Iwobi.
