PFN Sends Strong Warning To FG Over Bishop Kukah

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has taken sides with Bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese, Mathew Kukah on his Christmas message.

PFN warned the federal government to avoid making Kukah a sacrificial lamb for speaking the truth.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that Kukah, in his message accused President Muhammadu Buhari of nepotism, adding that he was sacrificing the dreams of Nigeria for the pleasure of the north.

According to the cleric, there could have been a coup or war in the country if a non-Nothern Muslim was the President and did some of the things Buhari had done.

Bishop Kukah Clears Air Over Alleged Call For Coup

His statement ignited controversy and reactions from MURIC and some northern groups, including Arewa Youth Consultative Forum and the APC, which condemned Kukah and called for his prosecution.

PFN president, Felix Omobude speaking in Benin on Wednesday, said that Bishop Kukah should rather be commended for voicing out the minds of genuine Nigerians.

The PFN wondered why it is only in Nigeria that one cannot speak against the government and go free.

Referring to Donald Trump, The PFN President said people have insulted the United States President without getting sued, but here in Nigeria citizens have been taken to court by the present administration for insulting President Buhari.

Omobude said; “Kukah spoke on what is in the minds of most Nigerians and should be commended for voicing out when others kept quiet when things were getting out of control.

“Well, I appreciate Bishop Kukah. I do not think we have interacted one-on-one, but if you follow him, you will know that he is down to earth when it has to do with telling the truth.”

Omobude clarified that Kukah is an advocate of democracy, hence would not call for a coup as insinuated in some quarters.

He urged the Minister of information, Lai Mohammed to stop causing chaos and face the truth.

“Bishop Kukah is an advocate of democracy so he could not have been calling for the military overthrow of the government. The issues that he raised are very glaring.

“Now, it is only in this country that you can’t talk against the government and go free. What is the dust for?

“I know that the Minister of information is paid for his job, but he should be honest enough to face certain truths.

“People call Mr Trump all kinds of names and never has anybody been sued for insulting him, but people have been sued in Nigeria for insulting the president.

“Bishop Kukah should be seen as a patriot and not a sacrificial lamb. He is not a hater of government but he is a lover of truth. I stand wholeheartedly on his views,” Omobude added.
