DELSU SSANU Chairman Abducted By Gunmen

Unknown gunmen have abducted the chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Delta State University, Abraka branch, Monday Izu.

It was gathered that Mr Izu was abducted on Thursday evening along Eku-Abraka Road while returning from an official assignment.

The spokesperson of Delta police Onome Onovwakpoyeya has confirmed the incident.

According to her, police are making efforts to rescue the labour leader unhurt.

Izu only celebrated his 63rd birthday 11 days ago.

Sources said the abductors were yet to contact the victim’s family as of noon, Friday.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident to Tribune Online when contacted.

She, however, added that efforts were on by operatives of the command to rescue the labour leader as well as apprehend the abductors.
