Madubuko was said to have been kidnapped barely two weeks after he resigned his appointment with the Anambra state government.

Mrs. Madubuko, who addressed newsmen, said the absence of her husband has negatively affectied her family, as she is yet to come to terms with the fact that her husband has been declared missing by the Anambra State government.

“My three children always ask me about their father but I have not been unable to provide a satisfactory answer to because I don’t know what to say” she said.

According to her, “On January, 13th 2021, I called my husband at noon and we discussed as husband and wife. He told me he will be having meetings with SSG and APGA Secretary, and that after the meeting, he will call for us to agree on the day he will be coming back to Australia.

“So I waited for him at the time he said he will call but he didn’t call. Then I have to call him back, his phone numbers rang but he didn’t pick it. After two hour, I call him again but he didn’t pick. All his numbers were ringing.

“The next morning, I called his phone but this time were switched off and I tried and tried but his two numbers were switched off. I called some of his friends and they told me they saw him in the morning but didn’t mention afternoon. They asked me not to be bothered that his phone might be having low battery.

“On 15th January, I opened my social media and saw that Honourable Christian Madubuko, the immediate past Commissioner for Diaspora in Anambra is being kidnapped by unknown gunmen. I became shock to my bone marrow, in fact, I was mad”, she narrated.

She regretted that she had called several officials of the State government to confirm the information but was asked to report the matter to the State Police authority.

The President of Nigeria Association in Australia, Mr. Uche Okorie, said the association is deeply worried that Madubuko, who is one of them, was kidnapped after he voluntarily resigned his appointment as Commissioner in Anambra state.

Okorie wondered how such an incident should be happening in a state that prides itself as a progressive one, while declaring that the unfortunate incident is not only a human right issue but also a national embarrassment.

“The interest we have in this matter is not just that Madubuko was one of us before he answered the call to service to Anambra state. “We are worried that after two weeks, we are not getting any signal of urgency by the government in its bid to rescue Madubuko” he said.
