It was a sad experience today 17th February 2021, as goods worth millions were burnt to ashes at the popular Timber Market Nkwo Nnewi.
Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the fire incident started at about 12 noon.
Narrating what led to the fire outbreak, an eye witness who does not want his name to be mentioned told our reporter that the fire started when some policemen who were on routine patrol, engaged in a hot chase with some drug dealers in the area, who ran inside the bush for safety.
The drug dealers lighted up the bush to prevent the Policemen from smoking them out, but unfortunately, it resulted in many businesses losing their goods worth millions.
Traders were seen trying to assist the Fire Service men to put off the fire. while others were shading tears over their loss.

“We thank God that this incidence happened during the day. It would have been worse if it was at night”; said one of the traders.
As at the time of this report, the Fire Servicemen were trying to put off the fire. Efforts to speak to the chairman of Timber Market Nkwo Nnewi was not successful as people were trying to help put down the fire and as well help some business owners remove their goods to avoid being affected.
