As the ongoing revalidation and registration exercise the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, continues across the state, the Daniel Nwafor faction, which has the blessings of former governor Rochas Okorocha, seems at risk of losing out entirely in the party, as Uzodinma seems to be consolidating his hold over the party structure in the state.

Nwafor is challenging the Nlemigbo leadership of the party in the state, insisting that he is the rightful Executive of the party in Imo State.

His claims, which are backed with court rulings, however had not stopped the National Leadership of the party, to recognise and hand over the party to Nlemigbo, much to the disappointment of the Okorocha faction.

With the way things are going, the political future of the former govenror, especially within the APC, is greatly threatened.

There is no guarantee, that the APC, will back a president of SouthEast extraction in 2023, and even if the party does, Okorocha might not be the choice of the powers that be within the party at Abuja.

Despite having all it takes to win the APC Presidential primaries, pundits doubt if the party leadership will allow an Okorocha candidacy to fly.

Okorocha is a man believed to be almost uncontrollable, when he was a govenror, and many believe that with ultimate power in his grasp, he would be totally uncontrollable, and that may not go down well with interested parties in the country.

On the other hand, should Okorocha aim to return to the Senate, he faces another problem, as Uzodinma may not even allow him get the party ticket.

By consolidating his hold over the party, through the membership validation and registration process, Uzodinma could be able to determine who gets what within the party, and it is believed that as he stopped Araraume from going to the Okigwe Senate, through Frank Ibezim, Uzodinma may most likely back his Chief of Staff Nnamdi Anyaehie, rumoured to be eyeing the Senate seat., as a pawn to stop Okorocha.

Okorocha may have seen all this coming, and had already started talking about a new political arrangement.

Unless Okorocha joins the PDP or forms a new party before 2023, his fighting chances to survive politically in the state, may be all but over in the APC.
