The former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has taken the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial zone, Enyinnaya Abaribe, to the cleaners. Abaribe was Kalu’s deputy during his first term as Abia governor. The deputy governor was later impeached. Kalu, on Monday, also said he was thankful to God to have been imprisoned for six months, declaring that God allowed the conspiracy of his enemies because “it is part of my life script”.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja on the December 2020 Imo North senatorial district bye-election. In the judgement delivered on March 18, the court had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Senator Ifeanyi Ararume. Reacting to the court’s decision in a statement on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party wondered how a matter that had been decided by the Supreme Court could be overruled by a Federal High Court.

Senator Uche Ekwunife formally joined the Anambra State governorship race on Tuesday. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain submitted her nomination form at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Ekwunife said it was too late for the PDP to choose a consensus candidate. “I am running to win, I don’t see how consensus arrangement will work,” she declared.
