Court Sentence Two Siblings To Death For Robbery

An Ondo State High Court has sentenced two siblings – Issac Sunday and Isaac Lucky – to death for armed robbery in Ondo town, Ondo State.

Apart from the duo, the court also sentenced one Ovie Friday, to death for the same offence.

The convicts were said to have conspired to rob the residents of the community, using guns and other weapons, during which they were arrested by the security agents and charged to court in 2014.

The trio were arraigned before the court on charges bothering on conspiracy and serial robberies.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution, led by the Chief Legal Officer in the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, Mr Olusegun Akeredolu, called four witnesses and tendered confessional statements of the defendants which were admitted by the court.

The defendants represented by their counsel, Mr Samson Iluyemi, gave evidence for themselves but tendered no exhibit.

In his judgement, trial judge, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, said the prosecution has proven its case beyond all reasonable doubts and sentenced the defendants to death by hanging.

Meanwhile, Anaedoonline.ng reported that the former National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Mr Kenneth Udez, was on Tuesday, re-arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged electoral fraud, forgery.

Also arraigned alongside Udeze were former National Secretary of the party, Mr James Vernibe and one Ogunmodede Oluwagbemi.

Recall that Udeze was arraigned over an alleged to have replaced the name of the duly elected governorship candidate of the party in Osun State with another person during the 2018 governorship election held in the state.

Also, Udeze was alleged to have fraudulently altered the documents of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and presented the same as the original.

The embattled former National Chairman of AA had earlier been remanded at Ilesa prison custody after he was arraigned before the court.
