The chairman of the Southeast governor’s forum and governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has absolved the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of most of the numerous attacks in parts of the state. Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday after the week’s security council meeting, Umahi disclosed that hoodlums hide under the umbrella of IPOB to carry out their evil attacks.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said the killing of a top commander of IPOB’s Eastern Security Network (ESN) Ikonso Don was a disaster. In a statement by the Secretary-General of the organization, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group said the killing had made Ikonso a martyr. According to the Igbo group, Ikonso’s death has further worsened the tensed security situation in the Southeast zone.

A Naval checkpoint located near Enamel Ware Junction on Onitsha-Owerri Highway in Anambra State has been attacked by unknown gunmen. The incident was confirmed to newsmen on Wednesday by the public relations officer of the Anambra Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga. The Police spokesperson however failed to comment on the number of persons killed (if any) or injuries sustained during the attack.

Former Abia State Governor, and the current senate chief whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed the reason behind his interest in buying Arsenal Football Club back in 2020. The Senate Chief Whip in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday said his interest in Arsenal was purely based on business to make money as he is not a fan of the English Premiership club. In November 2020, Kalu had shown interest in buying a 35% stake in Arsenal.

In an online trending video, the Ebonyi state government have launched the southeast security network, Ebubeagu. However, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Governor of Abia State, has said the southeast Governors launched Ebubeagu (codenamed) as the security outfit, to combat the security challenges in the region. Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Sunday, the governor said the headquarters and central command of the security outfit will be located in Enugu State.
