A protest is going on in Enugu City right now. Supporters of the Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, who are mostly members of the Adoration Ministry, Emene, Enugu, on Wednesday, 5th May 2021, are out demanding to know the whereabouts of their spiritual leader.
Recall that the Ohaneze Youth Council, OYC, had started the issue when they reported in a statement signed by the President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, that Mbaka was incommunicado and nowhere to be seen. This coming after Mbaka asked that Buhari resign or be impeached and the backlash that followed made this “disappearance” more suspicious.
Buhari’s administration had come out to say that Mbaka is only been a sore loser who had come to Aso Rock seeking for contracts and was rebuffed. Mbaka admitted that he was in AsoRock but not for contracts. He said he was there to link a group of experts who wanted to solve Nigerian security challenges and put a stop to the exporting of crude oil and importing refined fuel by Nigeria.
Well, Mbaka has gone missing and the Igbo youth body is not taking it lightly. They gave the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest or face the err of Igbo Youths.
Even before the expiration of the deadline, the supporters took to the streets and roads of Enugu.
An “important” message making rounds among the followers of Fr. Mbaka had read thus:
“Good morning friends and well-wishers. Please if you know you stand for justice and you do not want the lone voice that speaks for the poor in this country to be silenced, gather at Adoration ground let’s go for a protest at the Bishops court.
“Fr. Mbaka is nowhere to be found. He went yesterday to answer the Bishop’s call and up till now, he’s not taking his calls. Let’s gather! SSG.”
This is how the strike was mobilized.
