El-Rufai: Worker’s Protest Won’t Stop Us From ‘Sacking’

Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State Governor, has expressed that protests and strike action embarked upon by workers in the state will not alter plans to sack some of them.

The governor stated this barely 24 hours after workers in the state commenced a warning strike over alleged mass sackings in the state.

In his verified Facebook page on Monday, the governor posted, “Kaduna State Government affirms that the conditions that compel it to rightsize are not altered by the NLC’s campaign of economic and social sabotage.

“The NLC showed in 2017 that it has no interest in public welfare, going violent over 21,780 failed teachers who KDSG replaced with 25,000.”

Meanwhile, Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre has accused politicians of heating the polity. On Sunday at Covenant Place, Lagos, Oyemade, made this known while speaking, insisted that Nigeria will not break up. He stated that some political leaders who want power are behind the calls for secession, also expressed that the intercessions for Nigeria are enough to avert any impending doom.

“Let me just tell you, this country is not breaking. The reason is that before God does anything in a nation, He calls His people. Even if they have done wrong and He wants to judge them, if He finds intercessors, he will look away from the judgment and correct it without bringing judgment,” he said.

Speaking on Sunday, the clergyman stated that some political leaders are using ethnicity to divide the country and calling for secession as a means to gain power and money. He, however, urged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used as a tool to break up the country.
