Sirika Announces First Quarter Of 2022, For New National Carrier’s Take Off

Hadi Sirika, The Minister of Aviation, has announced that the new national carrier is expected to commence operation by the first quarter of 2022.

On Wednesday 19th of May 2021, Sirika disclosed this while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

He explained that the new national carrier is long overdue and the private sector-run airline will be in operation by early 2022, with possibly cheaper rates.

He added that the new national carrier is expected to be a viable airline and is potentially poised to cater to millions of travelers in Nigeria and Africa.

According to the Aviation Minister, the forced postponement of the planned date for the establishment of the National Carrier (which was initially planned for the end of 2021) was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He disclosed that the Ministry would return to the council in two weeks to submit a memo with an outline business case for council’s approval.

Meanwhile, A judge at a Sharia Court in Bauren Zakat village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, Alhaji Husaini Sama’ila, has been abducted by Gunmen.

On Tuesday, According to reports by Vanguard, the attackers broke into the court around 3 pm and abducted the judge. The Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, confirmed that the judge was kidnapped by gunmen.

Confirming the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Gambo said:

“Yes, it is true that the judge, Hussaini Samaila has been abducted while the courts are on strike. The court had stopped sitting in that area for long.

“The judge went to the area alone to take something in the court without a court orderly or police escort, knowing fully the insecurity challenges in that area.

“Even if he has to go there, he should have asked for security cover and we would have given him considering his position.
