Security Operatives Swoop On MASSOB Group, Arrests One In Benue

As the deadline for the May 30 sit-at- home order by different Igbo separatist groups draw near, Nigerian security agencies have descended on members of the Movement for the actualization of sovereign State Of Biafra, MASSOB, in Benue.

In an operation said to have been conducted on Thursday, security operatives reportedly arrested one Uchenna Okeke, a member of the group.

This was revealed in a statement by Biafra Human Rights Advocates, an appendage of the newly formed Biafra Defacto Customary Government, signed by its director, Mr George Onyibe,

The statement did not reveal details of the arrest, but the group said Okeke was arrested in his house on Thursday.

It described the arrest as illegal, saying Mr Okeke is a member of the” non-violent pro-Biafra family (BIM-MASSOB) led by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.”

The group called for his immediate and “unconditional release.”

This is coming barely 48 hours to the Biafra Heroes Day” celebration called by all pro-Biafra groups.
