Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the alleged killing of the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), Godswill Obioma.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that a former political adviser to Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, was assassinated in Owerri, Imo State, on Sunday.

It was gathered that the APC chieftain who was in the state on national assignment was killed on his way to the airport.

Following his murder, a northern group had threatened to carry out a reprisal attack if those behind Gulak’s killing were not brought to book.

Reports emerged on Tuesday of the killing of Obioma by unknown assailants at his home in Minna, Niger State.

Elizabeth Obioma, wife of the victim had told Peoples Gazette that her husband was killed by unknown gunmen in his residence on Monday night.

She said that her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him.

“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” she had said.

However, in a statement, Director, Human resources of NECO, Abdul Mustapha, denied reports that Obioma was assassinated.

Mustapha added that Obioma died in his sleep as a result of heart failure and not killed by unknown gunmen.

But reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode wrote: “On Sunday, Ahmed Gulak, a prominent Northerner, was killed in Owerri. Threats of reprisals were made.
