Carlo Ancelotti has penned an emotional farewell letter to Everton players and fans, after he returned to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Italian only spent 18 months at Goodison Park, after joining from Napoli.
The 61-year-old will now return to the Santiago Bernabeu for a second stint with “the team that was always in my heart”.
Ancelotti tweeted from his personal Twitter account: “I would like to thank Everton FC, my players and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to manage this fantastic and historical club.
“I decided to leave as I have a new challenge with a team that was always in my heart, Real Madrid.
“I leave taking with me all the amazing moments we have experienced together and wish the Club and fans all the best.”
Anaedoonline.ng reported that La Liga side, Real Madrid appointed Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane who resigned last week.
The development was disclosed by the club in a statement released on its website on Tuesday.
The statement read in part, “Carlo Ancelotti is Real Madrid’s new manager. The 61-year-old Italian coach comes from Everton and returns to our club after making history in his first stage.

“He managed Real Madrid for two seasons, between 2013 and 2015, and became the coach of La Décima. With him at the helm, the team reigned again in Europe 12 years later after the unforgettable Lisbon final against Atlético.
“Ancelotti won four titles at Real Madrid. In addition to the Champions League, in his first campaign, he lifted the nineteenth Copa del Rey, beating Barcelona in the final.”
