President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday threatened the south east region of Nigeria with a second civil war. Violent unknown thugs have been on the rampage in the region, killing and setting public and private assets on fire.

Former presidential candidate and convener of the #RevolutionNowMovement, Omoyele Sowore, has reiterated that he was shot by a police officer during a rally at Unity Fountain in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Monday. Sowore’s narrative contradicts the report of the Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory which claimed that the rights activist was not shot.

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has said those responsible for the rising insecurity in the South East are indigenes of the region and not foreigners. He said the unknown gunmen as often described are not really unknown gunmen, they are our young men and women.

Benson Abounu, Benue State deputy governor, has called on Fulani leaders especially President Muhammadu Buhari and Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar lll to speak against the attacks by herders on communities. On Tuesday, Abounu stated this on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television program, monitored by Anaedoonline.ng.
