Some Igbos have rejected the position of the Southeast governors who on Saturday distanced themselves from the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The five Southeast governors had on Saturday after a meeting in Enugu disowned the secessionist group, stating that the group does not speak for the Igbos.

Ahead of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the Bayelsa State deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will coast home to victory in the elections.

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has hailed leaders from the South-East for condemning the violent agitation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The governors and leaders on Saturday said they are against agitations for Biafra by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere has backed the position of the South-East Governors in condemning the violent agitations of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The governors and leaders on Saturday said they are against agitations for Biafra by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

South-East leaders have condemned violent and secessionist groups in the region, says that the groups those not speak for Igbo people. The Governors at a meeting in Enugu on Saturday June 19, they distanced themselves from the agitations of such groups and frowned on the violence that ensued which led to the loss of lives and destruction of properties.
