NRC Issues Apologies To Passengers For Break Down Of Train en-route To Abuja

Abuja bound passengers were stranded as a train broke down in the bush after taking off from Kaduna on Monday.

According to report, the train developed a mechanical fault 5 minutes after departing the Rigasa Station in Kaduna.

An engineer of the NRC, who addressed the passengers, told them that it would take two hours before the journey can continue as they would have to wait for another train from Idu Train station Abuja to come to their rescue.

“We are very sorry, the locomotive is faulty. We have contacted the Idu Train Station for another locomotive. It would take them two hours to be here, “ he said.

The passengers were finally evacuated at 10:20am.

Many passengers commuting between Abuja and Kaduna use the train because of kidnapping on the road.

In 2020, a video circulated on social media showed passengers taking fresh air outside while a faulty train was being repaired.
