JUST IN: Justice Binta Nyako Orders Nnamdi Kanu To Be Detained In DSS Custody

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the prosecution’s application to detain the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Our correspondent learnt that the federal government applied for his detention before Justice Nyako of which she granted.

Kanu was whisked away by security operatives through a small gate by the side of the court, reports our correspondent.

Justice Nyako adjourned till July 26 for continuation of Kanu’s trial.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, had earlier announced that the IPOB leader was arrested through joint efforts between the Nigerian and UK authorities.

He made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday.

Recall that Kanu was arrested in 2015 and charged to court on 11 counts bordering on treasonable felony.

He was subsequently granted bail.

But in March 2019, the Court revoked his bail when he had left the country.

Present at Malami’s press briefing were the Inspector General of Police and the Department of States Services (DSS) spokesperson , Peter Afunaya.
