The highest socio-cultural group of the Igbo People, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has today, June 30th 2021, distanced themselves from a news item that made the rounds claiming that the body is happy with the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu and seeing his arrest as “the beginning of the end of insecurity in the South East”.

Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the publicity secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo made this disclaimer known via a statement AnaedoOnline has obtained. The statement reveals that Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Professor George Obiozor is never in a hurry to release statements.

They went on to sound a stern warning to people who are behind such news items, with a determination to punish them.

media suggesting that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has issued a statement regarding the alleged rearrest and re-arraignment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB).

Ordinarily, we would have ignored the said press release, but silence in this circumstance would mean giving validity to such fallacy by the unsuspecting public.

Ohaneze Ndigbo: IPOB has taken control of the South East

Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor has not issued any press statement on the matter. Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the apex Igbo cultural organization does not issue public statements in a hurry.

I hereby dissociate ourselves from the said press release and also warn those mischief-makers, impostors and charlatans peddling the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to achieve selfish gains to desist from that shameful misadventure.

In the event of further breach of this warning, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will be compelled to invoke the full weight of the law to deal with the offenders.

National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
