Ubong King is a name you hear and immediately associate with inspirational tenets, then the sadness would hit you because he is no more with us. But the sadness of Ubong King is not a hopeless sadness. He didn’t die a conclusive death. He built a lot. His name would continually be remembered and cherished. Here is everything you need to know about his legacies.
In the beginning
The late Ubong Thompson King was born on the 22nd day of August 1972. He was not just a Motivational Speaker, he was also a Business Consultant, Life Coach, and Security Expert. He made quite an impact in the lives of young adults through his numerous teachings and his lifestyle, for them to become good leaders.
He started a foundation known as Ubong King Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that is geared towards nurturing young minds and equipping them to become great leaders when they are given the chance. He does this through organizing conferences, social media platforms, or one on one sessions.
For someone who had a hard time growing up after he lost his father at a tender age, Ubong was able to beat the odds and carve a niche for himself in society through his perseverance and hard work. He started as a security guard, a position he held for three years without a salary as a volunteer in Power City International Church a place he was worshipping at the time.
This was his way of proving himself to society, that he is not useless but he is productive and can make his contributions to that effect.
From corporate system to the world
He worked with Alarm Centre Limited from October 2002- September 2003 as the Head of Operations. In October 2003, he became the Deputy Operations Manager-Armed Reaction & Protocol for Halogen Security Company Limited till around November 2005. That same year, in December, he became the General Manager of XL Security and Protection Services Limited. Working with these companies was like a training ground for him.
After gathering knowledge from this line of job, it was no surprise that he started his security outfit called “Protection Plus Services Limited” which catered for the security needs of people and businesses like Logistics, making business operators have ease with transportation, staffing, and staff housing, in Maritime, which entails securing their client’s goods that are in-transit or offshore, Loss Prevention and Executive Protection.
He was able to work with Government Agencies as regards Maritime and Land security, advising them on how to tackle security issues. It was in the course of doing this that he realized why there is insecurity.

He traced it to the unemployment of the youths which makes them agitated. To help them channel their energy to something more productive, Ubong King came up with his foundation in 2018 as a means to reach out to young people to help them harness their talents, skills, and introduced them on how to design structures by themselves, to shun unfavorable lifestyles and be responsible.
Ubong King was so passionate about this course of helping the youths that he spoke at several conferences, seminars, workshops, in Nigeria and other countries in Africa to enlighten them. He came up with the “Thinkation” a word coined from Thinking and Education to assist youths to think creatively and develop themselves.
He saw the need for a mentor(s) to guide these young minds to be able to compete favorably with other youths from around the world, he stepped into the shoes and became the guardian to help them achieve this goal and stand out.
He received some accolades as a way of appreciating his activeness when it comes to young people and security intelligence. In 2016, he was awarded by the African Child Foundation, the prize for “Integrity Security Intelligence” and a Star Award in Maritime Security by Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria. He was also a one-time chairman of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), Lagos Chapter.
Ubong was the President of a platform called the King’s Men. This platform aimed to spur people without strong role models in their lives to become better versions of themselves in terms of Leadership, Relationship, and Business through his coaching so they can attain their full potentials.
Ubong King studied Agriculture at the University of Calabar but he pursued what he was passionate about; helping people and ensuring the safety of their possessions through his Foundation and Security Company. This decision of his has affected so many people positively. He was not limited in his quest for knowledge as he was able to get more certifications from other prestigious Business Schools.
Until his demise on the 26th of December 2020, he was regarded as one of the notable Motivational Speakers Nigeria has ever had.
