Bandits: Sokoto Residents Raze Commissioner’s, District Head’s House

The house of the Sokoto State Commissioner of Career and Security Affairs, Colonel Garba Moyi, has been razed down by some youths in the state.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that the youths also invaded the residence of the District Head and Sarkin Gobir of Isa, Nasiru Ahmed, destroying vehicles and other items.

Confirming the incidents, Sokoto Police Command spokesman, Sanusi Abubakar, stated that both houses were destroyed during a peaceful gathering on Wednesday.

According to Abubakar, the peaceful gathering was organised by some residents of the area to discuss the way forward over security issues.

He, however, said some bad elements hijacked it for a protest that went violent, leading to the attack on the homes of the commissioner and traditional ruler.

The Police spokesman added that arrests have also been made following the incident and the culprits will be punished under the law.

Abubakar revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Kamaludeen Okunola, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the sad incidents.

The commissioner also warned residents of the state against taking laws into their hands.
