The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe has lambasted governors and other leaders of the southeast region, describing them as deaf and dumb.
Igbokwe made the submission on Wednesday in his reaction to the killing of Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili, the former director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Anaedoonline.ng recalls unknown gunmen murdered Dr. Chike at Umuoji in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State on Tuesday evening.

A source disclosed that the late minister’s husband had earlier visited the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) where the late Dora was honoured.
Igbokwe in his reaction to the development accused the leaders of the region including the governors of turning a blind eye to the worsening security situation.
He, therefore, called on the federal government to immediately declare a state of emergency in the southeast.
“SINCE GOVERNORS AND OUR LEADERS IN THE SOUTH EAST ARE NOW DEAF AND DUMB LET ME SAY IT WITH ALL THE EMPHASIS IN MY COMMAND THAT FG SHOULD DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE SE,” Igbokwe wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
