Kachi Beauty Products – How Not To Run An Online Business

Online businesses have become a norm with the inception of social media platforms which enables an entrepreneur an online presence and also garner customers from different areas of the country.

Some persons have used this means to swindle the prospective clients of their hard-earned money without giving them the goods they paid for. This is the alleged case of Abimbola Ngozikachi Onyeulo, the Chief Executive Officer of Kachi Beauty Products.

Kachi Beauty Product Scheme

Kachi Beauty Product deals on human hair and wigs according to the advertisement Ngozikachi did on her business page on Instagram. The bio on the page pointed to the fact that she is the biggest wig manufacturer in Africa which makes her the New China in Africa. There are also two warnings on the bio; “no refund” and “abusive comments will get you blocked”.

She promised to empower all those who will patronize her business as wholesale distributors because they will make huge profits from the sales and become millionaires before the year comes to an end.

So many people saw it as an opportunity to do a lucrative business and decided to join her scheme. She had four packages from which you can start with. The Silver package entails the sum of 300,000 to register, the Gold package required 500,000, the Platinum package goes for 1,000,000, and the Diamond package costs 5,000,000.

The Allegations Against Kachi Beauty

After people had patronized her by paying the money into an account bearing the Company’s name, they never received their products.

They called her attention to the matter and she promised them it will be delivered because there was a delay in the production. Those who kept on pestering when she didn’t get back to them were blocked on Instagram eventually. In time, they decided to make everything public knowledge.

This happened during the pandemic in October 2020.

An aggrieved client finally got her attention when two of her staff were arrested by the police on her account, during their hair tour in Enugu, this happened at Olive Gate Hotels and Suite. She later made a statement that she is refunding some of the clients back their money in order not to tarnish her reputation.

Amongst the people who patronized her was Asemota, a student studying in Malaysia. Seeing her promises, he decided to dip his hand into his school fees and used part of it to purchase the wigs but he never received anything from her.

He was told his products will get to him in August, but by December, when she made new posts on Instagram, he commented to find out when he will receive the products but got blocked. The young man, it was said, ended up having high blood pressure after losing the sum of N555,000.

One Rosemary Ugorji said she made purchases from Kachi Beauty because of her mother, seeing she is a public figure made her thought she could trust the venture but the reverse was the case when she paid for 82 pieces of hair and two mannequins which amounted to N745,000 but she didn’t get even one.

She also collected cash from her customers too to buy for them. After a while, she was sent 18 pieces of synthetic hair which were below what she ordered. The woman complained to her but she was bold enough to tell her to make do with it like that before she was blocked.

Another lady, Precious Agu ( not real name) also claimed she paid the sum of 206,000 for the past six months, she didn’t give her any products or refund. She also said Kachi is the biggest scammer she has ever seen, she is so rude and it will not be well with her.

The Mother Iretiola Doyle Weighs In

One would think that Ngozikachi will turn a new leaf and conduct her business with sincerity after the embarrassment but she has alleged to have chosen to collect money without delivering any goods to her clients.

Her mother, Iretiola Doyle, a renowned Nollywood actress whom you should know as Sheilla in Africa Magic “Tinsel” whose name has always been linked to Kachi, weighed in.

She had this to say on her Instagram account, “I reiterate and write to all parties concerned and the general public that I am in no way connected to Kachi Beauty Products. I do not and have never owned a share, been a director, been on the payroll, or received any financial benefits from said business.

“I have zero affiliation with or interest of any nature with Kachi Beauty Products and its boards/proprietors. Mrs. Abimbola Ngozi Onyeulo (nee Ozofor) aka Kachi, the 34-year-old owner of the said business is one of my biological offspring and that is the extent of the relationship.”

She further advised that the aggrieved parties should deal with her daughter directly or go to the right authorities to settle the issue.
