Abba Kyari, the former chief of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has blamed his misfortunes on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security agency, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

According to a police report, the troubled detective said this while being questioned by a panel set up to question him about his apparent connection to self-proclaimed online fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.

Hushpuppi had accused Kyari of accepting money from him in exchange for detaining his associates in connection with illegal dealings.

The report released by the panel led by DIG Joseph Egbunike partly reads, “The officer did not deny violating social media (policy) of the police. The officer (Kyari) stated ‘It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who moved to destroy him due to his onslaught against them in the South-East.”

The panel in its reaction to the statement of the embattled cop recommended a demotion in rank as ‘punishment’.
