2023 Poll: INEC Releases New Voters List To Parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral body, has released a list of new voters for registered political parties.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, INEC issued the list in accordance with the Electoral Act 2022 and the timeline and program of operations released by INEC over the weekend.

“The Commission should, within 60 days after each year, make available to every political party the names and addresses of each individual registered during that year,” according to Section 10(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, according to the agency.

INEC spokesperson Festus Okoye told reporters after the commission’s management meeting on Tuesday that the list was issued in preparation for the 2023 general elections.

Okoye disclosed that the electoral agency has given softcopies of the list of persons registered as voters in 2021 to each political party.

The INEC spokesman said the commission has fulfilled two of the activities on the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2023 elections released on February 26.

Okoye said the commission has implemented the publication of the Notice of Election and the release of a new voters list to political parties.
