Russian-Ukrainian War: Abramovich Offers To Sell Chelsea To Swiss Billionaire and Others

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made an offer to Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss to sell the club for more than £2 billion.

Due to apparent links to President Vladimir Putin, the 55-year-old Russian businessman is in the limelight.

During his broadcast on Thursday, US President Joe Biden promised that the West will confiscate everything belonging to Russian oligarchs, even their residences.

Despite Abramovich’s denials of any ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, calls for his censure continue to grow stronger.

Wyss, who is said to be worth $5.8 billion, claims that it is the Russian, not the other way around, who is attempting to orchestrate an auction.

Speaking to Swiss newspaper, Blick, the 85-year-old said: “Abramovich is one of Putin’s closest advisers and friends. Like all other oligarchs, he is also in a state of panic.

“Abramovich is trying to sell all his properties in England. He also wants to get rid of Chelsea quickly. I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.”

Wyss, however, said that the Russian billionaire businessman has placed the price for the club so high, adding that he has to wait to see what happens in the next four or five days.

“You know Chelsea owe him £2billion? But Chelsea has no money, which means that whoever buys Chelsea has to compensate Abramovich,” he added.
