The government of Lagos state has openly condemned what it termed disregard for safety of lives and properties, the use of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as souvenir at a party.

The state’s Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement, stressed that such action of using kegs of “fuel” as presents is reprehensible and parties involved will account for it.

The spokesman of the state further emphasised that the government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu can never tolerate any act that could jeopardise the safety of Lagosians and visitors to the state.

A video went viral in the early hours of today, showing cans of the scarce product displayed as souvenirs for guests at a party, rumoured to be the coronation of a lady identified as Chidinma Ogulu, a fashion stylist, as the Erelu Okin of Orile Kemta.

PMS has been scarce recently and sold at a far higher price than that which is approved by the government, prompting many, including popular singer, Waje, to jokingly, or otherwise, say that they are willing to marry anyone who could give them “fuel”. Nevertheless, the government keeps claiming to have more than enough quantity for the nation.

Nevertheless, many keep insisting that such party where the product is given out as souvenirs is what they look forward to attending.
