Nigerians on social media have lambasted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) Lagos State command after it named Musiliu Akinsanya a.k.a. MC Oluomo, the State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as its Ambassador of War Against Drug Abuse in the State (WADA).

Akinsanya shared a message on his Instagram page announcing his appointment.

“It was a blissful gathering as the team of the National Law Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), led by the Lagos State Commander, Calys Alumona, visited the Chairman of NURTW, Lagos State Chapter, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc-Oluomo), to sensitize people to desist from drugs and other harmful substances,” the statement reads. The team took advantage of the occasion to educate the union members about the dangers of hard drugs and how damaging they can be to their bodies and minds.

“Apart from enlightening NURTW members, they were also there to designate the Lagos State Chairman of the union as an Ambassador on the War Against Drug Abuse,” said the NDLEA’s Lagos State Commander (WADA). He revealed that they had been closely monitoring the Union chairman’s life and were startled to see that he did not smoke or consume alcohol.
He claimed his team and coworkers were astonished to learn that, despite what they’d heard about Mc-Oluomo from individuals who don’t seem to like him, he’s a fine man who doesn’t take drugs or encourage others to do so.

“Commander Alumona exhorted the union members to follow in the footsteps of their chairman by being courteous and refraining from using hazardous substances.”

Nigerians took to Instagram and Twitter to express their amazement towards the appointment.

Some called out the anti-drug agency for making the NURTW chairman their ambassador, while other commend them for being strategic in their fight for drug use.
