Governor David Umahi’s party, the All Progressive Congress, has slammed a Federal High Court judgement in Abuja on Tuesday that stripped him of his political position.
According to the party’s Ebonyi State branch, the court judgement is too harsh and should not be taken seriously.
In a statement attributed to Mr Simbad Chidi, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi, the court’s dismissal was branded as a “disturbance to democracy” in the state.

The party’s spokesman believes that today’s Abuja ruling cannot overturn the State High Court’s decision, which validated Umahi’s years-long defection to the APC from the opposition party.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Governor Umahi and his deputy were fired by Justice Inyang Ekwo of an Abuja Federal High Court earlier today.
The judge ruled that the defection of politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was illegal.
Umahi and his deputy were ordered to quit their posts immediately by Justice Ekwo, who stressed that their defection was illegal, unconstitutional, and null and void.
Ekwo said that the governor and his deputy were elected by the PDP and that they could not keep the votes since they chose to abandon the party that nominated them.

Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), has resigned.
According to Leadership, Akpanudoedehe reportedly departed the party’s national secretariat at Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, with all of his possessions.
Anaedoonline.ng reports that his resignation may be connected to the sack of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and subsequent takeover of party leadership by Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello.
