APC Crisis: Orji Kalu Sends Strong Warning To Party Leaders Over Crisis

Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, has urged warring factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put party objectives ahead of personal ambitions.

As the 2023 general elections near, the APC chieftain urged that people in control of the party must involve every caucus in the decision-making process.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Orji Kalu made his remarks against the backdrop of the APC’s present leadership turmoil.

On Friday, the Abia North Senator stated that while President Muhammadu Buhari’s position as party leader is ultimate, party officials must avoid selective leadership, arrogance, and nepotism in order to prevent tearing members apart.

“I call to the diverse caucuses of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to unify and harmonize for the common good.”

“It is critical that we prioritize the interests of our great party before our personal ambitions for the sake of Nigerians, even beyond the general elections in 2023.”

“As a result, I’m urging those in charge of the party’s leadership to include every caucus in the party’s affairs.”

“To rescue our party, selective leadership, nepotism, hubris, and disdain for the rule of law must be avoided.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership as the party’s leader is supreme. The Senate President, House Speaker, serving and former governors, serving and former ministers, serving and former members of the National Assembly, and other party leaders must rise to the occasion and protect the party’s unity,” he urged.

His statement came amid a dispute between Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni over the chairmanship of the APC Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
