Petrol Souvenir: Police Arrest, Charge Erelu Okin In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has detained Erelu Okin, also known as Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, for her controversial political party in the state.

On March 4, she handed kegs of gasoline as souvenirs during an event hosted at the Havilah Events Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island.

Adekunle Ajisebutu, the command’s spokesperson, said in a statement published on Tuesday that Ogbolu was charged in court on Monday.

Ogbolu was charged with four counts of behavior likely to create a breach of peace and endangering human life by disseminating incendiary material in a public place.

Intent to hurt another, unauthorized storage, and containerizing petroleum products without a permission are among the allegations leveled against her.

It was gathered that Ogbolu was brought before the Special Offences (Mobile) Court of Lagos State at Oshodi under Ikeja Magisterial District.

The spokesman, however, did not reveal if Ogbolu pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against her or not.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Alabi had ordered her arrest after the event centre was sealed.

He took the opportunity to enhance his commitment to protect lives and property in the state and warned citizens against acts capable of endangering human lives.
