Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), claimed soldiers injured his legs on President Muhammadu Buhari’s orders.

The IMN leader and his wife, Zeenat, were detained for more than five years until being released last year after a Kaduna State High Court judgement exonerated them of the accusations leveled against them.

El-Zakzaky expressed optimism of returning to Zaria, Kaduna State, in the future while talking with journalists, claiming that President Buhari had accused him of a felony and commanded military troops to treat him badly years ago.

The Islamic scholar went on to say that troops shot his thigh during a horrific incident that occurred in Kaduna State over five years ago.

El-Zakzaky and his wife were charged in 2015 with eight counts of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide punishable by death, wrongful restraint, unlawful assembly, disruption of the public peace, voluntarily causing grievous harm, inciting disturbance, and breach of peace, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, however, has refuted the charges (IMN).

“I hope to return to Zaria at some point in the future to build on my religious activities in particular,” El-Zakzaky remarked as he reflected on his ordeals.

“They (soldiers) injured my left thigh and left hand, so I’m being carried.” I’m not referring to a fracture; I’m referring to harm.

“Four’soldiers’ opened fire on the small room where we were. They were there to exterminate us. They demanded that I take off my clothing, and when I refused, one of them threatened me with fire. The remainder of them started fire on us. In the process, the entire house was demolished.”

President Buhari, according to the IMN leader, sent the soldiers to attack him.

They were at his flat on the president’s order, he added, since he had been accused of building a government within a government.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the trouble began when El-Zakzaky and Shiite members allegedly clashed with Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, the then Chief of the Army Staff.

After blocking the COAS’s way on Sokoto Road in Zaria city, hoodlums are claimed to have threatened his life.

Buratai and his entourage were reportedly on their way to pay a visit when the hoodlums obstruct their path.

The hoodlums, who were eventually identified as Shi’ites members, were adamant despite significant coaxing from senior officers on the entourage.

The soldiers escorting the COAS reacted in accordance with the rules of engagement, swung into action to clear the route for the army chief, and numbers of losses were reported in the process.
