2023: Defection Looming As Wike, Fayose, Others Meet Goje in Abuja [Photos]

Danjuma Goje, the former governor of Gombe State, hosted a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in his Abuja mansion on Friday.

Goje met with Ibrahim Dankwambo, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Philip Aduda, and former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

In 2014, the senator for Gombe Central in the National Assembly switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP stakeholders reportedly came to see Goje in order to persuade him to rejoin the opposition party ahead of the 2023 elections.

On social media, there were speculations that the former governor was about to leave the APC, but he refuted the claims.

Goje and his political godson, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, have been at odds over the APC’s leadership of the state.

This resulted in an attack on the Gombe senator’s convoy on a visit to the state last year, as well as a crisis in the ruling party’s state chapter.

The APC caretaker committee, however, arranged a reconciliation meeting with Yahaya and Goje in January 2022.
