See What EFCC Said About Leaked Video Of Obiano In Their Facility

Governor Obiano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has distanced itself from the recorded and leaked video in its custody of Wille Obiano, the immediate past governor of Anambra State.

Following his arrest at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos last week, Anaedoonline.ng claimed that a viral video of the former governor in an EFCC custody facility surfaced online over the weekend.

Obiano was observed sitting on a waiting chair, drinking water from a bottle, and conversing with another male, dressed in shirts and shorts.

The EFCC claimed in a statement released by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, that the leaked video violated its established Standard Operating Procedure.

He stated that a discreet investigation was conducted to fish out the officer responsible for the recording and leaking the video of Obiano in custody.

Uwujaren, however, revealed that the anti-graft is currently punishing the errant officer responsible for the embarrassment.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a trending video showing the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano in the custody of the Commission.

“The Commission wishes to distance itself from the said video which is completely at variance with the established Standard Operating Procedure of the EFCC.

“A discreet investigation ordered upon discovery of the leak has revealed the errant officer behind the odious act and he is currently being subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.”

Meanwhile, EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, disclosed on Monday that Obiano has been granted bail but he is yet to fulfil the conditions for his release.

It is understood that the former Anambra governor is under investigation over allegations of fraud and money laundering.
