The identity of the Nigeria Police Force’s Bauchi State Command soldiers who allegedly stabbed two individuals to death on Thursday, March 24, 2022 has been revealed.

Anger erupted in the Yelwa village of Bauchi as irate youths stormed the Yelwa Divisional Headquarters to protest the killing of two individuals by a police officer, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The claimed police allegedly attacked three persons with a knife, but two of them died instantly.

The mob took over the streets, blocking the road from the Elim Church junction to the Yelwa Divisional Headquarters, causing chaos.

The police headquarters confirmed the occurrence in a statement released to the media hours after the outcry, revealing the name of the culprit as PC Lukman Madaki.

According to reports, the officer from Toro Division is assigned to the Sports Office at the Bauchi State Police Command Headquarters.

SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, a spokesman for the State Police Command, stated in a statement to reporters on Friday, March 25, that the incident occurred during a patrol at a black spot in Yelwa.

Madaki, who was attempting to elude arrest, allegedly attacked members of the patrol team’s Peace and Security committee with a knife, according to Wakil.

The victims according to the police mouthpiece, were rushed to the hospital where two of them were certified dead by a medical doctor.

The police statement read: “On 24/03/2022 at about 2230hrs, a Patrol team attached to E’ Division while on visibility patrol around a black spot at Rafin surfing, Yelwa arrested F/no. 519342 PC Lukman Madaki 29yrs of Toro Division attached to Sports Office, Bauchi State Police Command Headquarters,” the PPRO stated.

The statement added: “In a bid to resist arrest, PC Lukman employed the use of Jackknife, stabbed and injured the following members of the Peace and Security committee attached to the patrol team.”

The names of the victims are revealed as Abdulmalik Mohammed, 22, of sabon gida yelwa, Sadiq, 23, of Sabon Gida Yelwa and Nazifi Mohammed, 19, of Yelwan labourer.

”The victims were rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for treatment where Abdulmalik Mohammed and Sadiq were certified dead by a medical doctor, while Nazifi Mohammed the third victim is currently responding to treatment.

”The suspect has since been arrested and detained while investigation has commenced in earnest,” Wakil noted.

In his reaction to the horrible event, the Commissioner of Police commiserated with the families of the deceased, and the people of Bauchi State over the unfortunate incident.

The CP ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter and appealed for calm while urging members of the public not to take laws into their hands as the outcome of the investigation will be made public.

He also enjoins citizens of the state to remain law-abiding and to continue to assist the Command to fight crime in the state by promptly reporting any incident.

The Commissioner assures the public of his commitment to the fight against criminality by the law in the State.
