2023 Elections: Malami Denies Joining Kebbi Governorship Race

Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has denied running for governor of Kebbi State.

On Tuesday morning, it was widely reported that the minister had shown interest in running for governor and succeeding Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Malami encouraged the people of Kebbi State to assist him achieve his gubernatorial aspiration in an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday.

“If God’s graces permit and all goes well, I will run for governor of Kebbi state as a politician.”
I’m looking for your help.

“I’d want to declare that I will run for office, and I’m depending on your prayers and support to help us all work together and finish the race.”

“I have no history of betrayal, and I won’t betray you, people. I will work for you,” he had said.

But in a statement issued by his spokesman, Umar Gwandu, Malami stated that he won’t contest the 2023 governorship election as speculated.

Gwandu said the minister was misquoted and misrepresented.
