2023: PDP Zoning Committee Throws Presidential Ticket Open

The zoning committee led by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has put the ticket available ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary poll on May 28th, 2022.

Remember that a committee chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, which examined the PDP’s performance in the 2019 general election, suggested last year that the 2023 ticket be opened.

After three sessions in the previous two weeks, a member of the 37-person zoning committee informed Newsmen that the Ortom-led group has also suggested that the ticket be opened.

2023 Presidency: PDP Reacts Over Zoning Presidential Ticket To The North

“We have determined that the ticket be thrown open,” the source said following a three-hour meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. This will allow those who have bought forms to contest”.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, several governors from the PDP’s southern platform are pushing for the ticket to be allocated to the south, while those from the north, including Presidential hopefuls, want the zoning to be scrapped.

“We have just finished our meeting, after we rose from our meeting last week, today we decided that we would meet, and by the Grace of God we have unanimously adopted a position that will be sent to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our Party that appointed us,” Ortom told journalists after the meeting.

“The good news for our teaming supporters of the PDP and Nigerians is that we have resolved and every one of us, the 37 members unanimously adopted the position that we are going to present to NEC, he said.
